Adam Klarfeld, born in Holon, Israel, began studying the viola at age 18. He attended the Jerusalem Academy of Music for his Bachelor of Music degree under the tutelage of Dr. Lilach Levanon, and continued to pursue his Masters of Music and Professional Studies degrees at the Cleveland Institute of Music with Cleveland Orchestra Principal Violist Robert Vernon, and Associate Principal Violist Stanley Konopka. Currently, Adam is finishing his Doctorate studies with Professors Atar Arad and Ed Gazouleas at the Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington IN, USA.

 

Adam has  performed live on Israeli national radio station, “Kol Hamusica”. He has performed in their concert series’ of “Youth at the Center” and “Etnachta”, 

performing as a chamber musician in various groups, an ensemble player, and as a soloist in 2006 with the orchestra ensemble “Twenty Something”. He has performed recitals in both Israel and the United States.

 

As an orchestra player, Adam has participated in many prestigious festivals such as the West Eastern Divan Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Daniel Barenboim, the National Repertory Orchestra, the Jacobs School of Music Summer Festival, Kent Blossom, and more. Adam has also played in various orchestras in the United states, among them are the New World Symphony, and the Evansville Philharmonic, where he currently hold a position while finishing his doctoral studies. In addition to Maestros Barenboim and Tilson Thomas, Adam has had the honor of playing under the batons of renown artists such as Carlos Kalmar, Jaap van Zweden, Jahjah Ling, Bobby McFerrin, Kristjan Jarvi, and others of great artistry.

 

Awards he has received include the Horace and Marie Arnold Viola Award for Extraordinary Progress at the Cleveland Institute of Music (USA), The Israel America Cultural Foundation award for years 2004-2007, and the Bialik Bnei Brith Foundation
